Your Intellectual Property Rights

Nigeria Intellectual Property Attorneys deal with the existing intellectual property laws in enforcing and securing rights to artistic works, design and inventions.  The intellectual property relates to the wide legal subject that includes patent, trademark, industrial designs and copyright law. Trademark law protects and regulates the brand identity. Copyright law covers the preservation of lawful rights that deals with creative works like musical and literary arts and patent law protects our rights on technological and scientific inventions from absolute copying.  On the off chance that an individual believes that a certain infringement occurs, the owner may seek legal assistance from the lawyers.  Nigeria Patent Attorney will help you sue for the damages and completely prevent the practice helping you safeguard your work.
Patent and Designs Act of 1990
The patent law in Nigeria is being governed and regulated by the Patent and Design Act which describe which types of invention can be protected by the grant of a Patent.  The standard on determining if the product can be patented is determined under the S.1 of the Patent and Design Act.  Nigeria Patent Attorney will be able to help a company in filing a patent application if their invention is new, if it is a result of an inventive activity and provides a particular use on the industry and represents an improvement of the previous patented invention.
An invention can be determined new if it does not involve a certain part or form of the particular ‘State of art’.   The ‘State of Art’ may refer to an area of knowledge which is accessible to the public in anytime and anywhere whether it is for public consumption, written or oral description. The patent rights will be granted to the Statutory Inventor.  These Statutory Inventor refers to the individual who register and file for the patent and considered as the legal inventor.  Nigeria Intellectual Properties Property Attorney may help them in filling and registering their patent but the inventor needs to sign a power of attorney to authorize them.
Registering for the Patent
The applications for the patent should be directed to the Registrar of Patent and Designs. There is no examination of the Patent for novelty but Nigeria Patent Attorney must ensure that all the formal requirements for the grant of the patent are met before the Registrar will issue a Letters Patent.
When applying for a patent registration, Nigeria Intellectual Property Attorney at A.A. TEJUOSO & CO has a wide legal expertise on all matters surrounding the patent law.
